Kay Goes Negative…On Valentine’s Day

On the day of love, Kay Barnes has once again sent out a misleading negative email to Missourians.

It should be no surprise that Kay Barnes went negative, yet again. Apparently Kay’s fledgling campaign has abandoned its first campaign strategy.

Then:  ”the belief that a positive approach to life always triumphs over negativity,” said Barnes in May of 2007.

Now: Kay Barnes is sending out attack emails about the price of gas.

Perhaps Barnes has no option but to be negative because it’s clear that she has no positive plans of her own – except to raise the gas tax by 4 percent in 2002.

“Asked about legislation she supports to deal with rising fuel costs, Barnes said she was following ‘very closely’ what’s happening in Congress, but added, ‘I don’t have any specifics at this point…’

Asked about the idea of imposing a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, Barnes said she recognized that was a controversial issue and said, ‘I don’t have a specific comment at this point.’

Asked about higher mileage standards for new cars, Barnes again passed…
‘As the next year and a half goes by,’ she said, ‘I certainly will be specific.”- Kansas City Star, June 2, 2007

While we continue to wait for that-

“Sam is working to decrease the price of gas, not to raise taxes. That is why he voted to raise mileage standards for new cars, voted to increase the use of renewable fuels like bio-diesel and ethanol. He also supports energy exploration in America to wean us of our addition to foreign oil.”
