A SurveyUSA poll done for KCTV-TV in Kansas City shows Rep. Sam Graves ahead of Democratic challenger Kay Barnes by a 49 percent to 39 percent margin.
The survey was released Tuesday.
The national polling organization interviewed 900 people from the district, with 796 identified as registered voters and 547 seen as likely to vote in the November election. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.3 percent.
The survey results showed a significant gender split. Mr. Graves held a 19-point advantage among male voters, while the two tied among females. The incumbent also held leads among all age groups.
In St. Joseph, where the Democrat grew up, she trailed by 52 percent to 33 percent.
